NEW IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING AUDITIONS
Please Read to Bottom

The following is for everyone who answered our open casting call announcement in NYCastings.com, Backstage, Show Business Weekly as well as other on-line casting sites and appeared at Champion Studios for our auditions on Thursday July 17th.

Our casting session for voice-overs was scheduled from 12 noon till 3pm only that afternoon. We could not have anticipated or predicted that we'd have the overflow turnout that we did. Some 180+ people showed for what will eventually be about nine voices.

Out of the 180 we were able to audition 52 people in the order they appeared in our sign-in sheet before we were required to vacate the premises. At approx. 2:30pm we announced that we'd have to have some sort of arbitrary cut-off point. Our assistant, Cheryl, collected the remaining headshots/resumes. We kept the master sign-in sheet in as best of a 'first come first serve' order as possible.

We are currently reviewing the resumes and recordings of those we were able to audition. We plan another final round as soon as our scheduling permits. When we have secured a time and place it will be posted on this website.

We do not want to give any sort of 'guessstimate' of when that will be. It should be pointed out that for strictly practical reasons, it is highly unlikely that we need to, CAN or would EVER be able to see all of the remaining 130+ people.

We tried to strike a balance on July 17th, between the time we could spend auditioning actors, and yet not keep actors waiting.  Everyone who auditioned was given the exact same pages to read.

There were, as in any open calls, a few who unfortunately, made it tough on others; It was specifically stated that this was a non-union shoot yet several union people showed. We asked for an age range of 20's to 30's, but there were some actors who were clearly out of that range. There were also some who, despite our best attempts, cut ahead of others. They only succeeded in disqualifying themselves.

For those who checked out our website before the auditions, we requested that no file attachments be sent to the email contact address as it clogs the system,  however some people sent them anyway. This resulted in a complete system-wide computer slowdown on this end, and is the reason that this announcement has taken almost a week to post.

Having noted the above, the VAST majority of you were absolutely great!  under what we understand was an extremely long wait, especially in light of the fact that we couldn't see you before our time ended.

We ask that you continue to check the site on a weekly or at most twice weekly, rather than daily basis, to find out the next audition date/place. Unfortunately, we cannot email or phone everyone remaining on the list individually to notify you of when this will be.

Reiterating, this is a small production. In any subsequent casting session, given the restraints of time, manpower and financial resources, we will almost certainly be unable to see those people who are at the bottom half of those 180+ names.

We would be lucky to, at best, see 50-75 people in another three-hour session.

We're working under a deadline and at a given point we have to move on to the next phase. Ideally we want to see everyone, practically, that is impossibility.

We also are discouraging people from sending voice-over tapes because we feel it's necessary to see people in person.

"The Pitch" calls for at most, 2-3 Female Voices, and 6-8 Male Voices, but we have been deluged with a disproportionate number of Female to Male applications. So while we will keep EVERYONES headshots and resumes on file, at this point we feel it would be time best spent if we limit our next audition to Male voice-over actors.

We feel we probably have those two female Voices.

We are honored for all the kinds words from so many of you and of course for your tremendous patience. There were several people whom we saw whose readings were most impressive. You knocked us out with your enthusiasm and interpretation.  You "nailed it". We've noted as much in our comments with your headshots, and that handful of individuals will be contacted once we have our recording studio locked down.

For those familiar with Audio recording, you will know that that is also an audition process, and finding the "right" combination of studio and engineer is a time consuming and critical one.

So we ask your patience once again, keeping in mind that we must have the right "mix" of voices. Know, at least for those we did see, if you are one of those whom we have chosen, we absolutely will be contacting you, and will provide further information then.

Everyone here has worked on both sides of the camera and we fully appreciate all your time, interest, energy and dedication to your craft in all its demanding facets.

We once again thank all of you and wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors.

Sincerely Yours,
Jonathan Kaplan
